Our patient is a mother of two that after pregnancy was able to get back to her pre pregnancy weight through diet and exercise but had difficulties achieving her desired body contours. After examining her we determined a significant reason for her body contour changes was due to rectus abdominus diastasis. This occurs during pregnancy as the abdomen expands the distance between the rectus (six pack) muscles widens. This is so frequent for mothers whereby thin in shape moms can be confused with being pregnant when they are not. This can only be corrected by surgery. We performed Lipoabdominoplasty to correct the diastasis, remove excess skin and stretch marks, and contour the abdomen and flanks. She is shown after a secondary revision of the lateral scar which is why it is a little darker than the more central part of the scar.
We are happy to have helped her return to her pre pregnancy body contour goals.
