Morpheus 8

Morpheus 8 is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that combines radiofrequency (RF) with microneedling. Microneedling creates microinjuries on the targeted skin area that trigger the body’s natural healing processes. As the body heals from these microinjuries elastin and collagen production in the dermis is increased therefore creating smoother, firmer, more youthful skin. When the needles penetrate the skin, they also emit heat from radiofrequency waves. This heat penetrates deeper skin layers to tighten underlying fat and skin. The result from the combination of microneedling and radiofrequency is smoother, tighter, more even skin.

Morpheus8 Ideal Candidates

Morpheus 8 is a treatment that can be used to tighten saggy skin on the abdomen, back, knees, and face/ decolletage. It can also be used to treat acne scars, stretch marks, sun damage, wrinkles, and fine lines.

Morpheus 8 is safe for all skin types and tones. Typical candidates are men and women between the ages of 30-55 who have visible signs of aging. Individuals who can safely receive Morpheus 8 treatments are healthy and do not have any medical conditions that may interfere with the treatment. It is important to not have any active infection or skin conditions.

Morpheus 8 should not be performed on pregnant or breastfeeding women. Patients who have an implanted electronic device in their body, or a permanent device implanted near the treatment area should not have Morpheus8 treatments. Those who have irritation or open wounds in the treatment area or conditions such as herpes simplex, psoriasis, eczema, or redness and swelling of unknown cause should avoid treatment until their skin is healthy.

Morpheus8 What to Expect

The first step a candidate for Morpheus8 will have a consultation appointment. Once a patient is determined to be a good candidate for treatment, we will book a treatment appointment. Patients who use Tretinoin type products or Hydroquinone are asked to discontinue use 7 days prior to treatment. Patients who have a history of cold sores will be assessed for prophylactic treatment prior to the treatment appointment. At your treatment appointment the first step will be cleansing the treatment area and application of numbing cream 45 minutes before treatment. The handheld device is placed on the treatment area and the device is discharged releasing the fine needles into the skin and delivering the RF energy.  Treatments can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour depending on the area being treated. After treatment micro lesions can be seen for a few days. Swelling, mild tenderness and some redness can be seen for a few days after treatment and will resolve.

Morpheus8 Post care

Ice should not be applied to the treatment area immediately after treatment. Ibuprofen and Arnica should be avoided as it may interfere with the natural inflammatory process that is critical for skin rejuvenation.

Patients may wash the treated area with a gentle cleanser and cool water no earlier than 8 hours after treatment. Gently pat to dry with a clean towel.

Redness after the treatment is normal and can last anywhere from 2-7 days.

Peeling may occur at 3-5 days and it is important to keep the area moisturized. It is also important to not pick or scrub the area.

We recommend patients use a good broad spectrum sunscreen after the first 24 hours after treatment and everyday to protect their skin from skin cancer and to prevent photoaging.

Avoid tanning and prolonged sun exposure to direct sunlight for at least 2 weeks. We recommend avoiding strenuous exercise, hot tubs, and any activities in hot steamy environments for at least 3 days.

Makeup can be applied 1-2 days after treatment.

Morpheus8 FAQs

How much does it cost?

Cost varies depending on the treatment area. Treatment of the face and neck is $1275 and treatment of the face, neck and decolletage is $1375. Morpheus Body treatments start at $1600.

How does it work?

The hand held device has very small needles that when discharged penetrate the skin. The small “wounds” that are created undergo the body’s natural healing process and produce collagen and elastin.  While the needles are in the skin energy is delivered in the form of radiofrequency to the underlying tissues. Morpheus 8 has the ability to penetrate deeper into the sub-dermal tissues than other RF Microneedling procedures.

Is it safe?

Yes, Morpheus8 is a treatment that is safe for all skin types and tones. Like any other procedure there may be side effects after treatment that include redness and swelling. These side effects may last a few days but will resolve without intervention.

What is the best age to start?

Adults between the ages of 30-55 who have mild/moderate skin laxity will see the best benefit from having Morpheus8 treatments.

How long will my results last?

Results vary depending on age, skin conditions, and lifestyle. Most patients can see results for at least a year or longer. Maintenance treatments are needed to maintain results, because despite treatment the aging process will continue.
