About Lumecca

Lumecca is a non-surgical non-invasive cosmetic treatment that utilizes intense pulsed light (IPL) to improve various skin imperfections including pigmentation irregularities, sun damage, vascular lesions, and signs of aging. The face, neck, chest or decolletage, arms, hands, and legs are the most often areas of the body treated with IPL.

Lumecca is a better platform than conventional IPL treatments, because it attracts pigment more effectively yet requires less energy than other IPL devices. The Lumecca device can also deliver up to three times as much energy to increase treatment effectiveness.  Lumecca stimulates the body's natural healing process and rejuvenates the skin, revealing a more youthful and refreshed appearance.

Lumecca Ideal Candidates

Lumecca is ideal for patients who have uneven pigmentation, sun damage, freckles, vascular lesions, etc. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age, however people between the ages of 30-50 are most likely to see the most benefit from Lumecca treatments.

Lumecca Procedure Technique

A consultation appointment is our first step to talk about your desired results, expectations, timeline and to determine if you are a good candidate for treatment. If you are a good candidate we will proceed with a treatment appointment. At your treatment appointment we will provide you with protective eyewear to wear during the treatment. The treatment area is cleansed with alcohol and gel is applied. The Lumecca handheld device is passed over the treatment area and delivers intense pulsed light to the area. The wavelengths penetrate into the deep layers of the skin and target pigmented areas. Pigmented cells absorb the light energy and they are destroyed. Most patients report the sensation of the treatment similar to that of a rubber band snapping on the skin surface. Treatment can last between 30-45 minutes. After the treatment we apply sunscreen to the area to protect it from UVA and UVB rays.

Lumecca What to Expect

Redness, itching, swelling and slight warming of the skin are normal after treatment and for most patients subside within an hour. Over the next 24 to 48 hours, you may see a darkening of pigmented spots (this is normal). We recommend not using any makeup for 24 hours post treatment. In the week afterwards, the pigmented lesions flake off, leading to an evening out of skin tone. After treating vascular lesions, you may see the vein blanche then disappear, or a color change in the vessel which dissipates after a few days.

Patients may find they are sensitive to sunlight immediately after treatment. Avoid direct sunlight and tanning. Avoid activities in heat for example strenuous exercise, saunas, hot showers, physical activities in a hot environment, cooking over a hot stove, etc for at least 48 hours post-treatment. We recommend avoiding direct sun exposure for at least 3 weeks after treatment. We also strongly recommend wearing sunscreen, hats and sun protective clothing to protect your skin.

Many patients report results after one treatment, and others require more than one treatment to get the results they desire. Patients also report smoother, more radiant, glowing skin.
