Our patient, a mother, experienced volume loss in her breasts following childbearing and sought to restore this lost volume while maintaining a proportional look. Given her active lifestyle, we aimed to avoid the functional impacts of submuscular implant placement. Using 3D Vectra simulation, we determined that 350 cc implants would achieve her desired fullness.
The procedure was performed as an outpatient surgery, taking approximately one hour. We selected an inframammary fold incision to minimize the risk of complications and opted for a subglandular implant placement. This choice was informed by the sufficient pinch thickness of her breast tissue and the desire to avoid affecting her chest muscles. Although she had some baseline breast ptosis, we decided against a breast lift to prevent additional scarring on the breasts, focusing solely on augmentation to achieve her volume goals.
Post-surgery, she exhibits enhanced breast volume reminiscent of her pre-childbearing days while remaining proportional to her overall build. The areolar complex is positioned on the most projecting part of the breast, maintaining a natural breast shape, even though the breasts are slightly lower than ideal. Importantly, her breast scars are discreet and well-hidden.
