Introduction:

In the ever-evolving landscape of plastic surgery, patient comfort during in-office procedures is gaining significant attention. One innovative solution that's transforming the patient experience is Pronox, a nitrous oxide system that provides a safe and effective way to manage pain and anxiety. Let's explore how Pronox is becoming a game-changer in enhancing comfort for various cosmetic procedures.  At Levesque Plastic Surgery in Austin Texas we provide many in office procedures without iv sedation or general anesthesia and ProNox is one of the tools that allow us to perform these safely with as much patient comfort as possible.

Understanding Pronox:

Pronox, short for "pro-nox-ious" (meaning 'no discomfort'), is a nitrous oxide and oxygen analgesia system. Commonly known as "laughing gas," nitrous oxide has been a trusted tool in medical settings for pain management, and its introduction to plastic surgery offices is creating a positive shift in patient comfort.  We use nitrous oxide during general anesthetic procedures for many years which helps to limit opoid use and also helps with post operative nausea.

How Pronox Works:

Pronox is administered through a handheld delivery system that allows patients to self-administer the nitrous oxide and oxygen mixture. This patient-controlled approach empowers individuals to manage their comfort level during the procedure.  The mixture is a 50:50 mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen.

Instant Relief:

Pronox provides almost instant relief from discomfort and anxiety, allowing patients to relax quickly before and during their procedures.  In our experience relief is achieved after patient's have about 5 deep breaths.  Patients can continue to breath deeply during the procedure as needed to receive continued relief.  Pronox has a rapid onset of action and a short duration, allowing patients to recover quickly after the procedure without lingering effects.

Controlled Comfort:

The patient-controlled feature enables individuals to adjust the level of nitrous oxide based on their specific needs, ensuring a personalized and comfortable experience.  If a patient were to get little groggy not breathing the mixture will allow the effect to quickly wear off.

Safety First:

Nitrous oxide has a long-standing safety record in medical use. Pronox is designed with built-in safety features to provide a secure and reliable experience for both patients and practitioners.  Somex of the safety features are that no nitrous oxide is delivered unless the patient breathes in through the mouth piece.  The mixture itself is 50:50 mixture of nitrous oxide and 100% oxygen.

Procedures Enhanced by Pronox:

Pronox helps ease the discomfort associated with injectable treatments, allowing patients to undergo procedures like Botox or dermal filler injections with minimal stress.  Patients undergoing laser procedures for skin rejuvenation or hair removal can benefit from the calming effects of Pronox, making the experience more pleasant.  We also use Pronox routinely with Morpheus 8, fractional RF microneedling treatments, which allows deeper treatments with more passes for more impressive results.

Minor Surgical Procedures:

Pronox is suitable for a variety of minor surgical procedures performed in the office, contributing to a more relaxed atmosphere.  Liposuction, facelift, necklift, eyelid lifts, browlifts, and others we can use ProNox as needed for additional relief.

Conclusion:

As the demand for in-office plastic surgery procedures continues to rise, technologies like Pronox are reshaping the patient experience. By providing a safe, efficient, and patient-controlled solution for managing pain and anxiety, Pronox is proving to be an invaluable tool in enhancing the overall comfort of plastic surgery treatments. As plastic surgeons continue to prioritize patient well-being, Pronox stands out as a noteworthy advancement in the pursuit of a more relaxed and positive in-office experience.
