Mommy Makeover
Comprehensive body contouring combining tummy tuck, breast procedure, and liposuction — customized for each patient after pregnancy or weight changes.
What is a Mommy Makeover?
A Mommy Makeover is a combination of procedures — customized to each patient — designed to address the physical changes that pregnancy, breastfeeding, and significant weight changes bring to the body. There is no single "standard" Mommy Makeover: the right combination depends entirely on your anatomy, your goals, and your priorities.
The most common combination includes a tummy tuck (to address loose abdominal skin and separated muscles), a breast procedure (lift, augmentation, or reduction depending on your goals), and liposuction to contour areas that diet and exercise don't fully reach. Most patients choose to have all procedures performed in a single operation — reducing total downtime and overall cost.
Dr. Levesque will build your plan in Austin, TX around what matters most to you — whether that's restoring the breast shape you had before breastfeeding, flattening and tightening your abdomen, or addressing multiple areas at once.
- Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)
- Breast Lift ± Augmentation
- Liposuction (flanks, hips, thighs)
- Breast Reduction (if needed)
- All performed in one surgery
Done having children · At or near goal weight · Non-smoker · In good overall health · Realistic expectations about outcomes
Timing and preparation
Dr. Levesque recommends waiting until you are done having children before pursuing a Mommy Makeover. A subsequent pregnancy can undo the results of a tummy tuck or breast procedure. There is no rush — and the results are far more durable when the timing is right.
For patients who have recently lost weight through GLP-1 medications like semaglutide or tirzepatide, Dr. Levesque recommends waiting until your weight has been stable for at least 3–6 months before scheduling surgery. This allows the skin to settle and gives the most accurate picture of what surgery can achieve. When weight loss has left loose skin extending beyond the abdomen — around the hips, flanks, and outer thighs — a lower body lift may be a better fit than a Mommy Makeover, and the two approaches can be discussed together at your consultation.
Recovery requires real help at home. Most patients need 2 weeks before returning to a desk job, 4–6 weeks before returning to exercise. You will need someone with you for the first several days — plan for this before your surgery date.
What to expect at your consultation
Dr. Levesque will examine you, ask about your history, and discuss your goals in detail. He will recommend the combination of procedures that best addresses your concerns — and he will be honest about what surgery can and cannot accomplish.
He may recommend staging certain procedures (doing them separately) if the combined operative time would be too long for safe anesthesia. He will also discuss the location of scars so you know what to expect before committing.
What to Expect
A mommy makeover combines procedures — most often a tummy tuck with a breast lift or augmentation, and frequently liposuction — into one surgery and one recovery. Here is how it works.
Dr. Levesque listens to what bothers you most after pregnancy and breastfeeding, examines the abdomen and breasts, and builds a customized combination rather than a one-size template.
Performed under general anesthesia in an accredited facility, typically three to five hours depending on the combination. The procedures are staged in one anesthetic to consolidate downtime.
Most patients take two to three weeks off and arrange help at home, especially with young children. Strenuous activity and heavy lifting are restricted for about six weeks.
Am I a Candidate?
A mommy makeover is tailored to changes from pregnancy and breastfeeding. Good candidates usually:
- Are finished having children (recommended, since future pregnancy can reverse abdominal results)
- Are at or near a stable weight and in good general health
- Have concerns like abdominal skin laxity, separated muscles (diastasis recti), and breast volume or position changes
- Are non-smokers and have realistic expectations and help lined up for recovery
No two mommy makeovers are identical. Some patients need a full tummy tuck with muscle repair and a breast lift; others want augmentation with light liposuction. Dr. Levesque designs the combination to your body and goals.
Recovery Timeline
- First week: Rest with help at home; you'll move in a slightly bent position while the abdomen heals. Drains, if used, are typically removed within the first week or two.
- Weeks 2–3: Many patients return to desk work; you can stand upright comfortably as swelling eases. No lifting children or heavy objects yet.
- Weeks 4–6: Gradual return to light exercise; continue avoiding strenuous core and upper-body work until cleared.
- 3–6 months: Swelling fully resolves and results settle; scars begin their long fade with proper care.
Cost & Financing
Because a mommy makeover is a custom combination, the fee depends on which procedures are included. Combining them into one anesthetic is generally more efficient than doing each separately. Exact pricing is provided at consultation.
Levesque Plastic Surgery offers financing through CareCredit, Alphaeon, Cherry, and PatientFi, with monthly-payment plans that can be pre-qualified in minutes without affecting your credit. See our financing options or the full menu of services & pricing.
