Micro
needling
Trigger your own collagen for smoother texture, softer scars, and firmer skin in Austin — with SkinPen, RF microneedling (Morpheus8), or PRP, at a physician-led practice.
Rebuild your skin from within
Microneedling — collagen induction therapy — uses very fine needles to create controlled micro-channels in the skin. Your body responds by producing fresh collagen and elastin, which smooths texture, softens scars, tightens, and gives skin a healthier, firmer quality over a series of treatments. It works with your own biology rather than removing tissue.
There isn’t just one microneedling; there’s a spectrum — from gentle needle-only treatments to radiofrequency microneedling that remodels deeper tissue, optionally enhanced with your own platelet-rich plasma (PRP). We match the approach to your skin and goals at a physician-led practice.
Three ways to microneedle
SkinPen microneedling
Needles alone create the micro-injury that triggers collagen. Excellent for texture, pores, mild acne scarring, and overall skin quality, with minimal downtime.
Best for: texture, pores, early aging.RF microneedling (Morpheus8)
Adds radiofrequency energy at the needle tips to remodel deeper tissue and tighten — a step up for laxity and deeper scarring.
Best for: laxity, deeper scars, firming.Microneedling with PRP
Adds your own platelet-rich plasma (from a simple blood draw) to bathe the channels in growth factors, boosting healing and results.
Best for: maximizing rejuvenation. What microneedling treats

Depth, needle settings, and energy levels all matter — and they should be chosen for your skin type and concern, not applied from a fixed template. At Levesque Plastic Surgery, microneedling is performed at a medical, physician-led practice under the oversight of a board-certified plastic surgeon, so your treatment is dialed to your skin for safe, effective results — and can be combined thoughtfully with peels or other treatments.
Cost
Microneedling is usually most effective as a series, and pricing reflects the device and whether PRP is added. We’ll give you a clear quote and plan at your visit. See the full non-surgical price menu, or pair microneedling with a chemical peel for greater improvement in tone and texture.
Your treatment, start to finish
A microneedling session takes about thirty minutes. We apply a topical numbing cream first, so most patients feel only light pressure and vibration. Afterward the skin looks flushed — much like a mild sunburn — for a day or two, sometimes with slight tightness or flaking as it renews. Most people are comfortable returning to normal activities the next day, wearing mineral sunscreen and pausing harsh actives (retinoids, acids) for several days.
Because collagen builds gradually, microneedling works best as a series of about three treatments spaced four to six weeks apart, with improvement continuing for months afterward. Acne scarring and deeper texture concerns may benefit from a few additional sessions.
Safe across skin tones — with the right oversight
Microneedling creates a controlled mechanical injury rather than heat, which gives it a lower risk of pigment changes than many lasers — making it a strong option for medium and darker skin tones. It isn't recommended with an active breakout or skin infection, an active cold sore, a history of keloid scarring, recent isotretinoin (Accutane) use, or during pregnancy. Performed here under Dr. Levesque's medical oversight, sterile technique and needle depth are matched to your skin rather than left to a fixed protocol.
Your skin’s own repair response
Microneedling — also called collagen induction therapy — uses fine needles to create controlled micro-channels in the skin. Those tiny, precise injuries trigger the body’s natural healing cascade, prompting fresh collagen and elastin that gradually smooth texture, soften scars, and refine pores. The channels also let professional serums absorb more effectively, and treatment can be combined with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) from your own blood to amplify the regenerative effect.
Sessions & results
After numbing cream, the treatment takes about half an hour for the face and feels like light vibration and pressure. Expect redness and a warm, tight feeling for a day or two, sometimes with subtle flaking as the skin renews.
Downtime is minimal — most return to routine the next day. Because results depend on new collagen forming, they build over weeks, and a series spaced roughly a month apart gives the best, most durable improvement. Microneedling is safe for all skin tones because it doesn’t rely on light or heat.
